Our top client is seeking a dedicated Clinical Advanced Pharmacist to focus on critical care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In this role, you will lead the coordination and development of clinical pharmacy programs, ensuring that clinical services align with the unique requirements and needs of the patient population and the community. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of critical tasks and contributions to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Medication Review: Review medication orders and assess the quality of technicians' work to ensure the appropriateness of drugs ordered, dosage, route, and potential interactions. Adjust medication dosage and schedules as necessary based on patient condition in accordance with established policies.
Safe Medication Dispensing: Ensure the safe dispensing of medications to patients, adhering to age-specific guidelines. Follow proper procedures for the sterile preparation of IV admixtures in compliance with USP 797 standards.
Clinical Data Analysis: Participate in the evaluation and analysis of clinical data, medication use, and the development of drug and drug class monographs to support clinical toolkit development.
Pharmacy Distribution Oversight: Provide oversight of pharmacy distribution activities, including order receipt, product storage, controlled substance management, dispensing, and other distribution functions.
Narcotic Monitoring: Closely monitor narcotic transactions, verify all controlled substances dispensed, and reconcile the quantity and type of narcotics leaving the pharmacy. Maintain accurate records of received narcotics and ensure compliance with DEA regulations.
Physician Consults: Assist the department in addressing physician consults as needed, offering timely retrieval of reliable drug information from available sources.
Patient-Centered Care: Contribute to a culture of patient-centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment and communicating and interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare providers in a caring, empathetic, courteous, and respectful manner.
Effective Collaboration: Communicate effectively and collaborate with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs. Accurately receive, interpret, and implement physician orders, seeking clarification for unfamiliar or questionable orders.
