Occupational Therapist - New Grads Welcome

Overview: Our occupational therapy team plays a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of residents by delivering comprehensive and high-quality therapy services. A valid state-specific Occupational Therapy license is a requirement for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate skilled occupational therapy treatments as per physician's orders, while maintaining essential communication with physicians.
  • Manage written evaluations, progress notes, MDS records, and discharge summaries for residents participating in the occupational therapy program.
  • Collaborate with fellow healthcare professionals to address the unique needs of residents and enhance their rehabilitation or functional maintenance.
  • Contribute to Resident Care Planning meetings and lead them when the Director of Occupational Therapy is unavailable.
  • Keep meticulous statistical records of residents' treatments.
  • Assist in inservice training programs upon request.
  • Update and maintain residents' care plans.

Who will be a Great Fit?

  • Graduation from an accredited school of occupational therapy is mandatory.
  • A valid New York State license for occupational therapy practice is required.
  • A minimum of two years of occupational therapy experience.
  • A strong interest in occupational therapy treatment programs for geriatric and subacute populations, with a commitment to a team-based approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance to others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and a collaborative approach to working with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Attributes of maturity, diplomacy, and the capacity to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to interact with geriatric and chronically ill residents, as well as other healthcare professionals, in a friendly and supportive manner.
  • Ability to perform tasks to the highest standards of excellence.
