Polysomnography Technologist

Type: Direct Hire, Full-time

Salary: Competitive, based on experience ($29 - $38 per hour)

Job Description:

Join our team as a Polysomnography Technologist in our state-of-the-art sleep center. Under the supervision of the clinical director, you will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with sleep disorders. New graduates are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to determine testing parameters and procedures.
  2. Explain testing procedures to patients and complete necessary documentation.
  3. Prepare and calibrate equipment for testing, apply electrodes and sensors, and perform physiologic calibrations.
  4. Follow procedural protocols for various sleep studies and monitor data acquisition.
  5. Document routine observations, perform interventions as necessary for patient safety, and verify data integrity.
  6. Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to established guidelines.
  7. Perform routine equipment care and maintenance, evaluate sleep study equipment, and maintain inventory.
  8. Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and attend annual mandatory educational programs.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved associate or higher degree program in Polysomnographic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing.
  • Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) within 1.5 years of acceptance of position.
  • NYS Respiratory Therapist or Technician License or NYS Polysomnographic License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire date; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
