Job Description:

Join our team as a Respiratory Therapist and provide high-quality respiratory care services in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols. New graduates are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain knowledge of various methods of oxygen delivery and adjust delivery devices specific to the age and condition of the patient.
2. Assess, implement, and document respiratory care needs for patients post-discharge.
3. Administer respiratory therapy treatments via various modalities and understand their purpose and potential side effects.
4. Initiate, maintain, and discontinue mechanical ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and perform associated procedures such as airway management and suctioning.
5. Perform arterial and capillary blood sampling, analyze blood gas specimens, and troubleshoot blood gas analyzers.
6. Perform pulmonary function testing and prepare patients and equipment for bronchoscopy procedures.
7. Obtain 12-lead EKGs of good quality and complete associated documentation.
8. Perform functional checks on patients' own respiratory therapy equipment and deliver oxygen tanks throughout the facility.
9. Obtain nasal specimens for testing and transport specimens to the laboratory.
10. Follow Patients Rights guidelines and maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Qualifications:

• Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist or Technician by the State of New York.
• Credentialed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire date.
