Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assist in surgical procedures by anticipating surgeon needs and efficiently passing instruments
• Establish and maintain sterile field integrity throughout procedures
• Perform accurate surgical counts including sponges, needles, and instruments
• Manage and prepare surgical instrumentation and equipment
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
• Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety protocols

Required Qualifications:

• Current certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association
• Registration with VA Department of Health Professions
• Strong understanding of surgical procedures and instrumentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment
