Senior Inpatient Medical Coder (Remote) - ICD-10 Specialist

We're seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder to join our dynamic healthcare coding team. In this role, you'll utilize your expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding to ensure accurate medical record coding for hospital inpatient services, working with cutting-edge Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) technology.

Core Responsibilities:

• Assign and validate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for hospital inpatient encounters
• Review and analyze medical records and CAC autosuggested codes for accuracy
• Ensure proper assignment of present on admission indicators, hierarchical condition categories, and DRGs
• Perform clinical documentation analysis to validate accurate representation of patient care
• Maintain 95% accuracy rate while achieving 2.75 charts per hour productivity standard
• Participate in ongoing education to stay current with coding guidelines and regulations
• Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement specialists when clarification is needed

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care inpatient coding experience
• Current certification in one of the following:
  • CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technologist)
  • RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems
• Experience with Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) systems
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
• Experience with natural language processing systems
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and reimbursement methodologies
