Assistant Director of Health Information Management (HIM)

Position Overview

Working directly with the Facility HIM Director, you'll help shape departmental strategy, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure the highest standards of health information management. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities

• Partner with FHIMD to develop and implement strategic HIM initiatives and workflows
• Manage and mentor HIM staff, including hiring, training, and performance management
• Oversee medical record management processes, including documentation compliance
• Lead unbilled accounts resolution and revenue cycle optimization efforts
• Ensure EHR system efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards
• Facilitate communication between medical staff, facility leadership, and HIM team
• Provide training on record completion and medical record systems

Required Qualifications

• RHIA or RHIT certification required
• Bachelor's degree in Business or related field (or equivalent experience with CEO approval)
• Minimum 1 year HIM department experience (2+ years strongly preferred)
• Healthcare management experience preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Proficiency in EHR systems and healthcare technology
