Surgical Technologist - Operating Room (OR) Specialist

Essential Responsibilities:

• Maintain sterile field integrity and ensure compliance with aseptic technique
• Execute precise surgical instrument handling and passing techniques
• Perform accurate surgical counts including sponges, needles, and instruments
• Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain organized instrument setup
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Assist in training new staff and maintaining department standards

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Current certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association
• Registration with VA Department of Health Professions
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Military surgical technology training accepted with equivalent experience
