Director of Health Information Management (HIM) - Large Hospital Setting

A leading healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Director of Health Information Management to oversee our 474-bed hospital's HIM operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and transform our health information systems while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Regional HIM Director, you will manage day-to-day HIM operations, implement strategic initiatives, and drive process improvements across our facility. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and operational management in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage facility-based HIM operations, including staff supervision, workflow optimization, and resource allocation
• Oversee electronic health record systems (HPF/MPF) and coordinate with HIM Shared Services
• Drive unbilled management processes and resolution strategies
• Manage release of information processes, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations
• Implement and maintain Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) systems
• Collaborate with facility leadership and medical staff on HIM initiatives
• Monitor and optimize departmental performance metrics and productivity

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field
• RHIA or RHIT certification
• Minimum 3 years of HIM Director experience in a large hospital setting
• Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements
• Proven leadership and team management abilities
• Experience with electronic health record systems and CAC implementation
