Director of Surgical Services - Perioperative Leadership Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Surgical Services to lead our perioperative team in delivering exceptional patient care and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all perioperative services including operating room, pre-op, PACU, and sterile processing departments
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and other regulatory standards for surgical services
• Develop and oversee quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across all surgical departments
• Manage departmental budgets, capital equipment requests, and optimize financial performance
• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing surgical services teams while conducting performance evaluations
• Implement evidence-based practices and clinical protocols to enhance patient outcomes
• Build strong physician relationships and position the OR as the facility of choice for surgeons
• Monitor and improve patient experience metrics and satisfaction scores
• Lead strategic growth initiatives to expand surgical service lines and increase case volumes
• Enforce universal protocol for surgical site verification and patient safety procedures
• Participate in hospital-wide committees and serve as surgical services representative
• Oversee infection control, environmental safety, and OSHA compliance programs
• Develop and implement performance improvement programs monitoring critical care aspects
• Manage quality event reporting systems and implement corrective action plans
• Foster employee engagement through rounding, recognition programs, and leadership development

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice
• Minimum 3 years of healthcare leadership or nursing management experience
• Proven experience in perioperative or surgical services management
• Strong knowledge of operating room procedures, sterile processing, and surgical best practices
• Demonstrated competency in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
• Proficiency with quality metrics, data analysis, and performance improvement methodologies
• Understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, staff, and hospital administration

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or Business Administration (MBA)
• Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) certification
• Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) certification
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
• Previous experience as an OR Manager, Clinical Director, or Assistant Director of Surgical Services

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual Salary Range: $106,766 - $160,160
