Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric physical therapy evaluations and assessments for patients ranging from neonates to adolescents
- Develop and implement individualized treatment programs based on evidence-based physical therapy principles and practices
- Administer therapeutic interventions including corrective exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic modalities, and functional mobility training
- Provide patient and family education on proper use of adaptive equipment, assistive devices, orthotics, and prosthetics
- Document evaluation results, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with professional and departmental standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated to optimize outcomes
- Supervise and provide guidance to physical therapy assistants and support staff
- Maintain compliance with departmental policies, safety protocols, infection control procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in department meetings, continuing education programs, and professional development activities
- Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of physical therapy equipment and supplies
- Deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care that addresses both physical and psychological needs
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Current New York State Physical Therapy license or eligibility to obtain licensure at time of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire date
- Ability to lift 30 pounds independently and 150 pounds with assistance
- Strong clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Commitment to adhering to universal precautions and infection control standards
- Ability to provide safe, effective care across the pediatric age spectrum
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in pediatric physical therapy
- Hospital or outpatient clinic experience
- Specialized pediatric certifications or training
