Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager – L&D Leadership Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager to lead our maternity care team in providing exceptional, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations and staffing of the Labor & Delivery unit to ensure optimal patient care and safety
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of labor and delivery nurses and clinical staff
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care delivery to ensure compliance with evidence-based practices and regulatory standards
- Implement and maintain quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction
- Manage unit budget, resources, and staffing schedules to maintain operational efficiency
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive maternity care
- Hold staff accountable for quality metrics, clinical excellence, and adherence to policies and procedures
- Facilitate staff education, competency assessments, and professional development programs
- Respond to patient concerns and ensure exceptional patient experience throughout the birthing process
- Participate in strategic planning and implementation of departmental objectives aligned with facility goals
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or RN Diploma required
- Minimum 1 year of recent nursing leadership or management experience in Labor & Delivery (within the last 12 months)
- Strong clinical expertise in obstetric and maternal-newborn nursing care
- Proven leadership skills with ability to manage, coach, and develop clinical staff
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality standards, and best practices in maternal health
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare management systems
- BLS and NRP certification required; additional obstetric certifications preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree strongly preferred
- Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration a plus
- AWHONN or specialty certifications in obstetric nursing (RNC-OB, C-EFM)
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement methodologies
