Director of Emergency Services RN – Emergency Department Leadership Position
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Emergency Services RN to lead our Emergency Department operations. This critical healthcare leadership role requires a skilled nursing professional who will oversee the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered emergency care while managing department operations, staffing, and strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all Emergency Department operations and clinical services
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered emergency care in compliance with regulatory standards
- Manage ED staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning to optimize patient care delivery
- Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets and financial performance metrics
- Lead forecasting and strategic planning initiatives to support organizational growth objectives
- Create and implement evidence-based policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous quality improvement
- Oversee staff development, performance management, and professional growth initiatives
- Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary teams to achieve facility goals
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies to enhance patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory requirements
- Lead emergency preparedness and disaster response planning efforts
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration strongly preferred
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department Director or management experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Minimum 1 year of applicable clinical emergency nursing experience
- Proven track record of successful healthcare leadership and team management
- Strong knowledge of emergency medicine protocols, trauma care, and ED operations
- Demonstrated expertise in budget management and financial operations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Strategic thinking abilities with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare information systems
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards including Joint Commission and CMS requirements
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred
