Registered Nurse (RN) Manager - Critical Care Unit | Acute Care Leadership Position

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 leadership and clinical oversight for a defined critical care patient unit, ensuring optimal care delivery aligned with facility mission, vision, and nursing department philosophy
  • Develop and implement individualized, goal-directed nursing care plans utilizing the nursing process and Synergy Model framework
  • Deliver evidence-based care, treatment, and services while maintaining the highest patient safety standards
  • Delegate clinical tasks appropriately based on patient acuity and staff competencies to optimize care delivery
  • Lead recruitment, selection, performance management, and professional development of unit-based nursing staff
  • Monitor and manage departmental budget, maintaining operating expenses within target parameters while ensuring quality care
  • Champion patient safety initiatives and ensure compliance with Joint Commission (TJC) Patient Safety Goals and Infection Prevention protocols
  • Analyze occurrence reports and incident trends, implementing quality improvement strategies and educating staff quarterly
  • Ensure staff compliance with medical error reporting protocols and adverse event documentation procedures
  • Drive continuous performance improvement initiatives focused on employee satisfaction, patient satisfaction, and physician collaboration
  • Promote community health education programs and encourage staff participation in lifelong learning and nursing research
  • Identify cost-containment opportunities without compromising patient safety or quality of care delivery

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care critical care nursing leadership experience required
  • Progressive leadership experience demonstrating career advancement in clinical management roles
  • Current Texas State Registered Nurse (RN) license or valid compact state nursing license
  • National specialty certification (or commitment to obtain within 1 year of hire)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices and patient safety protocols
  • Experience with budget management and operational expense oversight

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's degree in related healthcare field
  • Previous leadership experience at Magnet-designated or Magnet Pathways healthcare facilities
  • Experience with Joint Commission accreditation standards and survey preparation
  • Background in quality improvement methodologies and patient safety initiatives
