Key Responsibilities

Technical Duties:

Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of complex medical equipment and clinical devices
Execute preventive maintenance (PM) programs on biomedical instrumentation and healthcare technology systems
Install, test, and commission new medical equipment and clinical systems
Evaluate demonstration equipment and prepare comprehensive technical performance reports
Conduct in-service training for clinical staff on proper medical equipment operation and safety protocols
Analyze equipment failures using root cause analysis methodologies to prevent recurring issues
Maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards, FDA regulations, and manufacturer specifications

Administrative & Collaborative Duties:

Document all service activities accurately in the Clinical Engineering Management System (CEMS)
Coordinate technical projects and field service assignments with biomedical engineering team members
Collaborate with equipment vendors, manufacturers, and support departments throughout the healthcare organization
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior biomedical technicians
Maintain current knowledge of emerging medical technologies through continuing education and professional development
Participate in on-call emergency service rotation to ensure 24/7 equipment availability
Support capital equipment planning and medical device acquisition processes

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering field with a minimum of 2 years of biomedical equipment technician experience, OR
Associate's degree in Biomedical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Computer Technology with 4+ years of hands-on BMET experience
Strong technical knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, and medical sciences
Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing medical devices and clinical equipment
Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clinical staff and vendors
Ability to lift and safely handle medical equipment (up to 50 lbs)
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for multi-site coverage

Preferred Qualifications:

ICC (International Certification Commission) CBET, CRES, or CHTM certification
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards including Joint Commission and CMS requirements
Previous hospital or clinical engineering department experience

Work Schedule

Full-time position with day shift hours
Occasional flexibility required for equipment access, installations, and emergency support
Participation in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency service
