Physical Therapist - Outpatient Orthopedic & Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation | Elmira, NY

Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive initial patient evaluations and assessments in an outpatient physical therapy setting
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's rehabilitation goals and functional needs
- Administer therapeutic interventions including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/ice therapy)
- Provide patient education on exercise programs, posture correction, body mechanics, and injury prevention strategies
- Collaborate with physicians, occupational therapists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care
- Monitor and document patient progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and measure outcomes to optimize recovery
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory standards
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and self-management techniques for long-term wellness
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinic environment following infection control protocols and safety guidelines
Job Requirements
- Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited physical therapy program required
- Licensure: Current New York State Physical Therapist license or eligibility to obtain licensure at time of hire
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
- Experience: Previous experience in outpatient physical therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, or musculoskeletal treatment settings strongly preferred
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise prescription, and use of physical therapy modalities
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively educate patients and collaborate with healthcare teams
- Organization: Strong time-management, critical thinking, and organizational abilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance; frequent standing, walking, bending, and patient transfers required
