Nurse Manager - Skilled Nursing Facility | Long Term Care | Waterloo, NY

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily nursing operations for a 130-bed skilled nursing facility with specialized behavioral and neurobehavioral units
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff including CNAs, LPNs, RNs, Senior CNAs, CNA Trainees, and Unit Clerks
  • Implement quality improvement strategies to ensure uncompromising patient safety and exceptional resident care
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care delivery across departments to optimize patient outcomes
  • Manage departmental resources to deliver efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care
  • Facilitate effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members
  • Ensure compliance with New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulations and standards
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, retention, orientation, and professional development of nursing personnel
  • Foster staff empowerment, collegial relationships, and best practices in nursing care delivery
  • Utilize management systems and analytical skills to assess needs, develop interventions, and evaluate effectiveness
  • Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure while promoting teamwork
  • Maintain proficiency with electronic health records, including Meditech, and Microsoft Office applications

Job Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program
  • Current New York State License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 2 years recent Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor experience in a Long Term Care facility (required)
  • 2 years of nursing experience or 2 years of Long Term Care experience
  • Experience with Special Needs Unit strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and proven track record in healthcare management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build effective work relationships
  • Knowledge of management systems, processes, and basic management competencies
  • Analytical skills with ability to assess departmental needs and implement solutions
  • Familiarity with New York State Department of Health requirements and regulations
  • Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Meditech preferred
  • Consistent work history in Long Term Care setting
  • Availability for rotational weekend shifts

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary: $90,000 - $105,000 based on experience
