Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Elmira, NY | Up to $15,000 Sign-On Bonus
We are seeking a skilled and certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our dynamic imaging team in Elmira, New York. This full-time position offers the opportunity to perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures using advanced imaging technology in both hospital and physician office settings. Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine & Nuclear Cardiology:
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic nuclear medicine and nuclear cardiology procedures with precision
- Conduct routine quality control testing on gamma cameras and imaging equipment
- Review physician orders for appropriateness and ensure accurate imaging protocols
- Prepare patients for procedures and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely
- Insert IV catheters as clinically required
- Acquire, process, and archive images using gamma cameras, PACS systems, and nuclear medicine management software
- Troubleshoot technical and clinical issues to maintain optimal imaging quality
Radiopharmaceutical Preparation & Sterile Technique:
- Order, prepare, calculate, and dispense radiopharmaceutical doses
- Manage Tc99m generator kits and bulk radiopharmaceutical supplies
- Perform quality control and maintain compliance with sterile compounding standards
Radioactive Material Management & Compliance:
- Oversee ordering, receiving, distributing, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials
- Ensure compliance with departmental protocols, hospital policies, and New York State Department of Health regulations
- Maintain accurate records for radioactive waste management
Therapeutic Nuclear Medicine:
- Coordinate therapeutic procedures with referring physicians and radiologists
- Ensure all pre-treatment testing and documentation are complete
- Administer therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals following strict radiation safety protocols
Mobile Nuclear Cardiology Services:
- Travel to physician offices throughout New York and Pennsylvania using mobile gamma camera systems
- Safely transport, set up, and operate imaging equipment in various clinical environments
- Work independently and collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and patients in outpatient settings
Patient Care & Safety:
- Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care for patients from neonates to geriatrics
- Maintain patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout all imaging procedures
- Demonstrate excellent patient communication and customer service skills
Professional Development & Compliance:
- Participate in departmental accreditation activities and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain continuing education requirements and all required certifications
- Attend annual training programs and stay current with industry best practices
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current certification or eligibility for certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology by NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Formal 2-year or 4-year degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program (preferred)
- Eligibility for New York State Nuclear Medicine Technologist licensure
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record and insurability
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 90 days of hire
- One year of clinical nuclear medicine experience preferred; motivated new graduates encouraged to apply
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety, radiopharmaceutical handling, and imaging protocols
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team
