Assistant Dean – Healthcare / Medical

Job Title: Assistant Dean of Workforce Development - Nursing Programs | Leadership Role in Nursing Education

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Dean of Workforce Development to join our nursing education leadership team. This pivotal role involves providing instructional leadership, program management, and site supervision for our nursing workforce development initiatives. The Assistant Dean will work collaboratively with the Dean to enhance program quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster excellence in nursing education while maintaining direct involvement in clinical teaching.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management & Administration:

  • Manage and supervise faculty and staff for workforce development nursing programs
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing curriculum aligned with industry standards
  • Ensure full compliance with state nursing board regulations and accreditation requirements
  • Prepare comprehensive data reports for state boards and regulatory agencies
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on faculty credentialing and personnel documentation
  • Identify and secure external resources and partnerships to enhance program offerings
  • Support student admissions processes and new student orientation programs

Clinical Education Leadership:

  • Serve as primary liaison between the college and clinical partner facilities
  • Assess clinical sites for safety standards, adequate staffing, and learning objective alignment
  • Maintain a 50% teaching load in laboratory and clinical settings
  • Conduct regular meetings with clinical faculty and communicate updates to the Dean
  • Ensure timely completion of course and clinical evaluations
  • Coordinate with Clinical Education Management for contract negotiations and updates
  • Document and maintain records of inter-agency collaboration meetings

Faculty Development & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with nursing faculty team in curriculum design and delivery
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and continuous quality improvement efforts
  • Stay current with emerging healthcare technologies and patient safety regulations
  • Participate actively in committee work supporting the program's mission
  • Lead or delegate attendance at faculty meetings and professional development activities

Student Success Initiatives:

  • Develop comprehensive skills lab and clinical orientation programs
  • Assist in planning and implementing nursing student recruitment strategies
  • Monitor student progress toward graduation and licensure requirements
  • Collaborate with Deans to ensure students meet all regulatory and academic standards

Required Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or site-specific state (California licensure costs covered for relocating candidates)
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) strongly preferred

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience in collegiate nursing programs
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision and budget planning
  • Proven leadership skills in academic or healthcare settings

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Strong computer skills and comfort with educational technology platforms
