BSN Nursing Assistant Professor - Part-Time Clinical & Lab Instructor (On-Ground)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse Educator to join our nursing faculty team as a Part-Time Assistant Professor for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This on-ground teaching position offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of nursing professionals through hands-on clinical instruction, laboratory supervision, and simulated clinical experiences (SCE). The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical nursing expertise, a passion for teaching, and the ability to mentor nursing students in various educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Instruction & Clinical Supervision:
- Facilitate and evaluate student learning in clinical rotations, nursing laboratories, and simulated clinical environments using established course curricula
- Supervise nursing students during hands-on clinical experiences and laboratory sessions
- Conduct debriefing sessions with students following clinical and lab activities to reinforce learning outcomes
- Collaborate with fellow nursing faculty on exam preparation, grading, and student evaluations
- Orient new nursing faculty members in both theoretical and clinical teaching methodologies
- Assess clinical facilities for compliance with safety standards and nursing education requirements
- Ensure clinical assignments align with student learning objectives and healthcare facility needs
Student Support & Communication:
- Maintain regular availability for student communication via email, phone, and scheduled conferences
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to nursing students
- Contact students who miss clinical, lab, or SCE sessions or demonstrate lack of engagement
- Support student success through individualized feedback and guidance
Administrative & Record-Keeping Duties:
- Maintain accurate attendance records and post attendance in the student portal in a timely manner
- Submit attendance rosters to the Academic Department for each class session
- Assign grades and maintain all course and student records in compliance with FERPA regulations
- Submit grades, reports, and documentation by established deadlines
- Maintain organized student records and contribute to program data management
- Ensure classrooms, laboratories, and conference rooms are left clean and orderly after use
Professional Development & Collaboration:
- Attend New Faculty Orientation and participate in the Faculty Mentor Program
- Develop and maintain a faculty development plan with academic administration support
- Attend campus faculty meetings, in-service trainings, and other assigned meetings
- Remain current in nursing practice and education, including maintaining RN licensure and certifications
- Meet continuing education requirements as required by state Board of Registered Nursing
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities and nursing education conferences
- Assist in program quality assessment, curriculum planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Adhere to Academic Freedom policy as outlined in the Faculty Handbook
- Perform additional duties as designated by the Program Administrator, Lead Instructor, or Academic Dean
Required Qualifications
- Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree required; OR Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with relevant teaching experience and current enrollment in MSN program
- Meet all state Board of Registered Nursing faculty requirements and qualifications
- Demonstrated current knowledge of nursing practice, clinical procedures, and healthcare standards
- Strong mentoring abilities and excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Knowledge of educational methodology, curriculum development, or clinical nursing practice
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of experience providing instruction to adult learners in academic or clinical settings
- Previous experience teaching in nursing education programs
- Clinical specialty certifications in nursing practice areas
- Experience with simulation-based clinical education
