Assistant Dean of Workforce Development - Nursing Education Leadership

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Dean of Workforce Development to join our nursing education team. This leadership position offers the opportunity to shape the future of nursing education while providing direct supervision of nursing program activities at our Workforce Development site. The Assistant Dean will partner closely with the Dean to manage instructional programs, oversee faculty development, maintain clinical partnerships, and ensure program excellence and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management & Administration:

  • Manage and supervise nursing faculty and staff to ensure operational excellence
  • Plan, develop, and evaluate all aspects of nursing workforce development programs
  • Develop and implement innovative nursing curriculum aligned with industry standards
  • Ensure full compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and regulatory site visits
  • Prepare comprehensive data reports for state and Board requirements
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on faculty and staff documentation and credentialing
  • Identify and secure external resources and grants to support program growth
  • Support student admissions processes and new student orientation programs

Clinical Education Oversight:

  • Serve as primary liaison between the college and clinical training sites
  • Assess clinical sites for safety standards, adequate staffing, and alignment with course objectives
  • Conduct regular meetings with clinical faculty and provide updates to the Dean
  • Ensure timely completion of clinical evaluations by all faculty members
  • Coordinate with Clinical Education Management for contract renewals and updates
  • Maintain detailed minutes of inter-agency and clinical partner meetings

Teaching & Faculty Leadership:

  • Maintain a 50% teaching load in laboratory and clinical settings
  • Contribute to the faculty team in preparing and delivering evidence-based nursing curriculum
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and continuous quality improvement
  • Stay current on emerging healthcare technologies, nursing practices, and safety regulations
  • Participate actively in committee work that advances the program mission
  • Attend or delegate representation at faculty meetings and professional development activities
  • Ensure timely completion of course and clinical evaluations

Student Success & Development:

  • Develop comprehensive skills lab and clinical orientation programs with faculty partners
  • Assist in planning and reviewing nursing student recruitment and admission strategies
  • Monitor student progress to ensure graduation and licensing requirements are met
  • Collaborate with the Dean to support student retention and academic success

Required Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or ability to obtain (relocation licensure costs covered by employer)
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) strongly preferred
  • Master's degree in related healthcare field will be considered

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience in collegiate nursing education programs
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision, team leadership, and personnel management
  • Experience with budget planning and financial management preferred

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Knowledge of nursing education standards and accreditation requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to student success and workforce development excellence
