Assistant Dean of Workforce Development - Nursing Programs | Leadership Role in Nursing Education

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Dean of Workforce Development to join our nursing education team. This leadership position offers the opportunity to shape the future of nursing education while directly impacting healthcare workforce development in our community. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Dean to provide strategic leadership, program management, and instructional oversight for our Workforce Development nursing programs.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Management:

  • Collaborate with the Dean in planning, developing, and managing all aspects of nursing workforce development programs
  • Supervise and mentor faculty and staff to ensure excellence in nursing education delivery
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing curriculum aligned with industry standards and best practices
  • Ensure full compliance with state nursing board regulations, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare comprehensive data reports and documentation for state boards and accreditation bodies
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on faculty credentialing, hiring, and staff documentation
  • Identify and secure external funding sources and resources for program enhancement
  • Maintain a 50% teaching load in laboratory and clinical settings

Clinical Education Coordination:

  • Serve as primary liaison between the college and clinical partner sites
  • Assess and evaluate clinical sites for student safety, adequate staffing, and alignment with course objectives
  • Conduct regular meetings with clinical faculty and maintain consistent communication with the Dean
  • Ensure timely completion of clinical evaluations and student assessments
  • Collaborate with Clinical Education Management to update and maintain clinical affiliation agreements
  • Document and maintain minutes from inter-agency and clinical partner meetings

Faculty Development & Collaboration:

  • Lead and contribute to the faculty team in designing and delivering evidence-based nursing curriculum
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and participate in continuous quality improvement processes
  • Submit required reports and documentation to leadership in a timely manner
  • Stay current with emerging healthcare technologies, nursing education trends, and safety regulations
  • Actively participate in committee work that advances the program's mission and goals
  • Attend or appropriately delegate representation at faculty and departmental meetings

Student Success & Recruitment:

  • Design and implement comprehensive skills laboratory and clinical orientation programs
  • Support student recruitment, admission processes, and new student orientation activities
  • Monitor student progress to ensure all graduation and nursing licensure requirements are met
  • Collaborate with advising and support services to promote student retention and success

Required Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or applicable state (California licensure costs covered for qualified relocating candidates)
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) strongly preferred
  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing is a plus

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in college-level nursing education programs
  • Minimum of four (4) years direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse in clinical settings
  • Previous experience in nursing education administration, supervision, or leadership roles preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with budget planning and resource management

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities with a collaborative approach
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and educational technology platforms
  • Knowledge of nursing education accreditation standards and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in nursing education
