Statutory Accounting Manager

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Salary Range: $125,000 - $170,000 + Bonus

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare detailed journal entries related to insurance and reinsurance activities, including premiums, commissions, losses, and adjustments.
  • Maintain and update the insurance database; generate essential reports.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly reinsurance accounting, including billing and collections.
  • Produce quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with Statutory & GAAP requirements, as well as regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual audited statutory financial statements and footnotes.
  • Direct investment accounting operations.
  • Calculate corporate tax provisions and prepare premium tax filings across various states and jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and adapt to changes.
  • Engage in ad-hoc projects as required.

Required Experience:

  • 5-10 years of P&C Insurance Accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Statutory & Reinsurance Accounting.

  • Technical expertise in the insurance industry or related professional field.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA or Master's degree is highly desirable.
  • Continuing education in Statutory Accounting Principles is expected.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with statutory regulatory filing software is essential.
