Job Responsibilities

• Conduct basic, intermediate, and advanced mechanical and preventive maintenance on a variety of complex systems.
• Investigate and identify repair needs, collaborating with facility personnel to ensure timely project completion.
• Perform general construction and maintenance tasks, such as troubleshooting, repair, and installation of walls, ceilings, flooring, plumbing, HVACR systems, electrical controls, and fixtures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to plan and execute construction and renovation projects.
• Monitor and inspect facility systems to ensure compliance with regulatory codes and safety standards.
• Identify and secure appropriate materials, supplies, and equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.
• Document and maintain detailed records for assignments, work orders, blueprints, and manuals.
• Train and mentor new department personnel to enhance team capabilities.
• Provide project leadership, oversee work progress, and guide teammates on achieving project goals.
• Research and recommend updated practices, materials, and techniques to improve operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational school training in CAD, blueprint reading, mathematics, carpentry, or woodworking preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in maintenance-related fields, including electrical, mechanical, and HVACR systems.
• Licensure/Certification: Valid Virginia Driver's License preferred for hospital roles and required for property maintenance positions.
• Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using computerized work order systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and follow instructions.
  • Must have basic general-purpose maintenance tools.
• Must pass a criminal history check and be able to travel to other facilities to meet staffing needs.
• Position requires a commitment to emergency response duties during operational emergencies.
