As part of the plant leadership team, you’ll lead all aspects of Food Safety, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Compliance. This is a high-impact, highly visible role with direct ownership of quality operations, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration with teams across R&D, Sales, and Manufacturing.
Job Title: Quality Manager / Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Reports To: Director of Food Safety & Quality
Compensation: Up to $120K base (potential increase to $135K–$140K pending internal review)

Team Leadership: 2 direct reports, 10 indirect reports
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Oversee daily plant operations to meet USDA, FDA, FSMA, CFIA, and customer-specific food safety standards.
Lead Audits & Certifications: Manage HACCP, SQF, and FSMA programs. Act as site lead for regulatory and third-party inspections.
Build & Mentor High-Performing Teams: Develop a quality-focused culture through coaching, training, and performance management of QA personnel.
Deliver Robust Training Programs: Ensure plant-wide compliance with GMPs, allergen controls, and quality systems through onboarding and annual education.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Own key quality metrics (KPIs), including audit readiness, complaint reduction, and FSQ issue resolution.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Support new product launches and customer satisfaction by partnering with Operations, R&D, Sales, and Maintenance.
Ensure Vendor Quality: Work closely with Corporate QA to manage supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Maintain SOPs & Documentation: Lead development of plant-specific Standard Operating Procedures and manage QA department budget.
Oversee Sanitation & Monitoring Programs: Ensure effective sanitation, pest control, and environmental monitoring systems are in place.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field.
Experience: 7+ years in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 18 months managing a team of 5 or more.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, SQF, allergen controls, environmental monitoring, and root cause analysis.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to inspire and manage quality teams in fast-paced environments.
Continuous Improvement: Familiar with lean manufacturing or quality improvement methodologies.
