Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering design for surgical suites, surgery centers, and hospital operating room facilities
- Direct all aspects of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) system design and coordination
- Develop comprehensive HVAC systems optimized for critical healthcare environments and sterile surgical spaces
- Ensure compliance with healthcare facility codes, standards, and regulatory requirements including FGI Guidelines
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and healthcare facility planners
- Perform quality control reviews, technical calculations, and engineering analysis for healthcare projects
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles
- Conduct site visits, coordinate with construction teams, and provide construction administration services
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) license - active and in good standing
- Minimum 6+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience
- Proven track record designing surgical suites, ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), or hospital operating rooms
- Extensive experience leading mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design projects
- Deep knowledge of healthcare facility mechanical systems including medical gas, HVAC, and plumbing systems
- Proficiency with engineering design software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP preferred)
- Strong understanding of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and NFPA requirements
- Excellent project management, communication, and leadership abilities
