Civil/Structural Designer – CAD/BIM Design Professional | Akron, OH

Position Overview

As a Civil/Structural Designer, you will support multidisciplinary engineering teams by producing detailed design drawings, developing structural and civil layouts, and assisting with field data collection using modern CAD and BIM software. This role offers exposure to diverse project types, ongoing mentorship, and opportunities to advance your technical skills with cutting-edge tools and training. Occasional travel to client sites for field measurements and project coordination is required. This is a hybrid position after initial training; candidates must be able to commute to the Akron office regularly.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise civil and structural design drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and other industry-standard software
• Develop design layouts for foundations, structural framing, site plans, and civil infrastructure projects
• Prepare construction-ready drawings that meet building codes, industry standards, and multidisciplinary coordination requirements
• Collect and analyze field data including measurements, elevations, and existing site conditions
• Ensure accuracy, quality control, and attention to detail in all design deliverables
• Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, and other design professionals to support integrated project delivery
• Learn and apply emerging technologies such as GPS surveying, 3D laser scanning, and Building Information Modeling (BIM)
• Conduct site visits to client facilities for data gathering and project coordination
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced project environment

Required Qualifications

• 2–5 years of drafting or design experience in civil or structural disciplines (recent graduates with strong technical skills encouraged to apply)
• Associate degree or vocational certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CADD), Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is highly desirable
• Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new design software and field equipment
• Excellent attention to detail with ability to identify design conflicts and discrepancies
• Ability to work on-site at the Akron, OH office and commute consistently (hybrid schedule available after training)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional client site visits
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset
• Capability to work safely in industrial field environments and navigate client facilities
