A well-established environmental consulting firm in Queens, New York, is actively seeking an experienced Professional Geologist (PG) to join its expanding environmental services team. Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct environmental field investigations including soil sampling, groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion assessments, and subsurface exploration
  • Manage and execute Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Phase II ESA, and Phase III ESA remediation projects from initiation through completion
  • Perform comprehensive environmental data analysis and prepare detailed technical reports, work plans, and remedial action plans in compliance with EPA, NYSDEC, and local regulatory standards
  • Provide expert environmental consulting services to clients regarding site conditions, contamination assessment, risk evaluation, and remediation strategies
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including environmental engineers, scientists, and project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Oversee field staff and junior geologists, providing mentorship on field investigation techniques, safety protocols, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor ongoing remediation activities and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Prepare and review environmental permit applications, remedial investigation reports, and corrective action plans
  • Maintain client relationships and participate in business development activities

Job Requirements

  • Professional Geologist (PG) license required (New York State or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, or closely related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting, site investigation, and remediation projects
  • Extensive knowledge of federal environmental regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, UST regulations) and New York State environmental laws (NYSDEC regulations, Brownfield Cleanup Program)
  • Demonstrated experience conducting Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III Environmental Site Assessments
  • Strong technical skills in soil and groundwater sampling, environmental drilling oversight, and subsurface investigation techniques
  • Proficiency in GIS software, AutoCAD, and environmental data management platforms (such as EQuIS or LIMS)
  • Excellent technical writing skills with proven ability to prepare clear, comprehensive environmental reports and deliverables
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills for client meetings and regulatory agency interactions
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New York and the tri-state area
  • Ability to perform physical field work in various weather conditions and terrain
