IT Support Specialist - Secret Clearance required

Our client is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join their team, playing a crucial role in maintaining the organization's operational efficiency. IT specialists contribute significantly to employee success by addressing technical issues through analysis, troubleshooting, and efficient resolution. This specialist will find satisfaction in solving complex problems and providing effective first-line support for local, remote, and mobile staff.

  • Must have an active ‘Secret Clearance.’
  • Contribute to the IT knowledge base with clear, concise, and detailed entries.
  • Administer and assist in managing the ITSM system.
  • Collaborate with the IT Team.
  • Create and test new images for Windows and Mac Operating Systems.
  • Create and maintain end-user documentation on procedures and how-tos.
  • Create Linux accounts and manage groups, home directories, and access.
  • Administer Active Directory user accounts.
  • Maintain scanners, copiers, and workstations.
  • Identify, research, and resolve technical issues for users.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware and software licenses.
  • Perform minor off-hours duties/on-call hours as necessary.
  • Order software and hardware for users and maintain stockage objectives for general consumption items.
  • Perform hands-on diagnostics at the desktop level, including software installation and upgrades, file backups, and system and application configurations.
  • Provision new computers for employees.
  • Provision phones and voicemail boxes (mobile and office).
  • Support the summer intern program, including configuring computers, administering rights, providing first-line support, and reconciling equipment at the end of the internship.
  • Assist the IT Team with various duties, including server, user, and network administration.
  • Test issue remediation to ensure problems are adequately resolved, with post-resolution follow-ups when time permits.
  • Approach every issue as an opportunity to educate the end-user.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who Will Be a Great Fit?  

  • 3 to 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks to meet customer demands and deadlines.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and a desire to learn.
  • Experience supporting operating systems, including Windows 10, Linux, and Mac OSX.
  • Experience supporting typical business and engineering applications and hardware (e.g., Microsoft Office, Matlab, Visual Studio, VMWare, Dell, and Apple laptops).
  • Helpdesk and/or Desktop certifications such as Linux+, Security+, Network+ are desired.
  • Intermediate Active Directory skills with the capability of managing user accounts, printers, and other resources.
  • Problem solver with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment in a growing company.
