Associate Director Contracts

We are seeking a full-time Contracts Associate Director with over 10 years of Department of Defense contracts experience to oversee and lead a small team of Contracts professionals. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of contract management activities, including proposal support, negotiation, post-award administration, change management, and closeout.

This position requires a hybrid approach, with a minimum of 3 days per week of in-office support at our Cambridge, MA office.

As the Associate Director of Contracts, you will provide leadership and direction to the Navy Strategic Contracts team and offer guidance to the cross-functional Program Team within our matrixed organization. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with Corporate Policies and Procedures, enhancing customer partnerships, implementing strategic initiatives, and monitoring performance and risk across a critical portfolio of Contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to a small contracts staff in various areas, including solicitation review, proposal development, contract negotiation, administration, change management, and closeout.
  • Manage team performance to ensure timely compliance with regulations, corporate policies, and internal directives.
  • Oversee contracts of high complexity across multiple contract types.
  • Support the Program Office with proposal development, interpreting contract requirements, assessing risks, and negotiating contracts.
  • Identify areas for process improvement, propose alternatives, and implement updates.
  • Develop and apply solutions to complex problems, fostering a culture of compliance, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Programs, Finance, Subcontracts, and Legal, to maintain and improve cross-functional business management processes.
  • Guide and mentor direct reports in the proper application of contract management principles, including FAR & DFAR interpretation, TINA Requirements, and cost principles.
  • Develop and implement effective training plans to promote continuous learning among team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of Department of Defense contracts experience, with a deep understanding of research and development, systems integration, and sustainment contracts.
  • 5+ years of prior leadership experience managing direct reports.
  • Strong familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Department of Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), including intellectual property rules.
  • Ability to develop and execute negotiation strategies effectively.
  • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to produce accurate work products under pressure.
  • Experience working within a matrixed organization and maintaining an approved Contractor Purchasing System.
  • Active DoD SECRET Clearance, with the ability to obtain a TS security clearance.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with Earned Value Management Systems, an MBA or Juris Doctor degree, professional certifications (e.g., CFCM, CPCM), and familiarity with Production Programs.
