FPGA Design Tool Developer

Arlington, Virginia

Location: Northern Virginia, Near Washington D.C.

 

Schedule: On-site Tuesdays through Thursdays

 

Citizenship Requirement: Must be a US citizen

 

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 per annum

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior FPGA Research Engineer with a passion for pushing the boundaries of reconfigurable computing. The successful candidate will lead groundbreaking research in algorithm development for bespoke internal tools targeting FPGA and ASIC front-end design. These tools address complex issues in hardware security, hardware design abstraction, and machine learning acceleration for critical systems. You will be instrumental in demonstrating the effectiveness of solutions on physical FPGAs and custom ASIC fabrication.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research initiatives and propose significant innovations within reconfigurable computing.
  • Collaborate with peers within the group and across the company to drive forward-thinking solutions.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Contribute to or lead proposals for future research projects.
  • Implement and refine algorithms for FPGA and ASIC design tools.
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience, or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in software development (C++/Java/Python) and hardware design (VHDL/Verilog/System Verilog).
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with FPGA implementation tools from Xilinx, Intel, or Lattice.
  • Ability and willingness to apply for a Top Secret clearance; current SECRET clearance or higher preferred.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contributions to open-source EDA tools (e.g., Torc, RapidWright, ABC).
  • Expertise in FPGA CAD tool algorithms, design automation, or hardware trust and security.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Mercurial, SVN) and CI/CD workflows.
