Payroll Analyst

Position Summary:

The Payroll/Accounting Analyst is responsible for the processing of the
bi-weekly payroll and records, auditing of salary payments, deductions
and assist with benefits administration. This position requires
experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, and the application of
general accounting principles.

Payroll
  • Act as the primary point person for employees, interpreting payroll
  • policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll including maintenance
  • of accurate and organized records of all payroll transactions in
  • coordination with the HR department
  • Reconcile timesheets for accuracy; communicate with department
  • managers for clarification as needed.
  • Analyzes, resolves, and corrects pre/post payroll batch validation
  • and will take the necessary action.
  • Provides training to supervisors and employees on payroll procedures
  • and on our timesheet system.
  • Responsible for the generation and posting of payroll related
  • journal entries and performing account reconciliations of payroll
  • accounts.
  • Track employees’ time off and maintain accurate records of accrual
  • balances.
  • Submit quarterly Federal Form 941 and annual Payroll Allocation
  • Worksheet with Payroll by Class Code to Workers' Compensation.
  • Payroll Online and Timestar administrator – maintain all aspects of
  • payroll and timesheet sites including employee login credentials,
  • password resets, etc.
  • Update payroll allocation files to be loaded to the general ledger.
  • Prepare year-end ACA 1094 and 1095 reporting.
  • Maintain internal control compliance on all payroll accounting
  • related activities.
  • Recommend changes, identify, and implement payroll related process
  • improvements, and ensure understanding of design decisions and
  • development objectives, which might impact users and assess training
  • requirements.
  • Stay current with payroll and benefit compliance that impact
  • practices, policies and procedures and take action as required.

Benefits
  • Administer flexible spending account benefits, which include claim
  • approval, claim denial, claim entry, check printing, report
  • generation, new hire additions, terminations, debit card setup,
  • claim adjudication, and account reconciliations.
  • Provide support for the 403(b) retirement plan administration,
  • including loan repayment, employee communications, new hire set up,
  • annual audit reviews, mid-year testing and compliance notices.
  • Reconcile monthly health insurance invoices and calculate deductions
  • for new hires and open enrollment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR and benefit representatives
  • to establish and administer any new procedures relating to payroll
  • administration.
  • Responsible for the Commuter Check program, including purchase and
  • distribution.

General Accounting
  • Monitor bank accounts activity and request for electronic fund
  • transfer as needed.
  • Record fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation
  • and perform related reconciliations.
  • Prepare and provide supporting documentation to external auditors.
  • Assist in producing ongoing financials, other analytical and
  • financial reports.
  • Maintain filing system for the Finance/Accounting department.
  • Prepare and verify input of journal entries into the accounting system.
     

Who Will Be a Great Fit?  
  • 5+ years of experience and knowledge of financial and accounting theory.
  • Knowledge with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for CA
    laws
  • B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance
