Diagnostic Imaging Nursing is an outpatient clinic that supports both an inpatient and ambulatory population. The ambulatory population relies upon guidance from brief, episodic visits, and the Diagnostic Imaging Nurse must have strong organizational and educational skills to have an impact on this patient population. The Diagnostic Imaging (DI) nurse provides specialized comprehensive and holistic primary nursing services to Diagnostic Imaging, Infusion, Physiatry and Central Line patients and their significant others utilizing the professional practice standards established by the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing, the Infusion Nurses Society and the American Nurses' Association. The DI Nurse serves as a resource for patients, families, providers and their office staff, nursing (both inpatient and outpatient), and other support services. The nurse must be able to institute life saving measures, follow universal precautions, enforce the use of Procedural Pause, maintain aseptic technique, and strictly adhere to hand hygiene per hospital protocol. Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Minimum Work Experience Prior Surgical or Procedural nursing experience Required Licenses/Certifications Licensed in the State of Vermont. ACLS Certification\* PALS Certification\*\* CPI Certification\*\* \*Must be acquired within 90 days of hire. \*\*Must be acquired within 6 months of hire. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Demonstrated proficiency in acute-care nursing, knowledge, and skills. Demonstrates moderate knowledge of basic computer skills. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure information accuracy. Strong analytical skills and critical thinking ability. Able to acquire or possesses process oriented perspective. Demonstrated proficiency in Radiology and Infusion nursing preferred. Proficient in IV insertion preferred Proficient in PICC line and/or Midline placement preferred. Ability and willingness to wear radiation protective apparel for prolonged periods of time.
