We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Paper Machine Superintendent to join our esteemed team. This vital role provides strategic and tactical leadership to achieve key operational objectives. Focus areas include safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality, and cost management. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in boosting productivity and reducing costs while ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.

This position stands as a pivotal link between the shift supervisors, operating crews, and maintenance leadership, ensuring seamless communication and the availability of required equipment and tools for successful operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead workplace safety initiatives and manage the performance of shift supervisors.
  • Promote consistent adherence to operating standards by daily auditing of shift leaders and operators.
  • Serve as the coordinator and key communicator between operating crews and maintenance leadership.
  • Coordinate equipment shut down operations to maximize maintenance crew productivity.
  • Conduct weekly audits on operator standardized work systems, providing direct coaching to operators and supervisors.
  • Monitor paper machine key operating parameters daily and assist or lead problem-solving for runnability and quality issues.
  • Act as the operations maintenance coordinator to ensure proper communication and coordination of maintenance issues.
  • Manage reliability issues tracking system to ensure accountability for paper machine reliability and maintenance needs.
  • Support efforts and assist in managing maintenance costs for the paper machine.
  • Support paper machine outage activities as needed.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • The ability to motivate team members to perform at higher levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with SAP experience considered a plus.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to improve safety, cost, productivity, quality, and morale daily.

Required Experience

  • 6-10 years of previous experience with paper machine operations.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a paper machine supervisor.
