Pulp Mill Superintendent

We’re searching for a dynamic and experienced Pulp Mill Superintendent to join our esteemed pulp and woodyard organizations in Texas. As a pivotal leader, you'll be instrumental in steering the safe and efficient operations in your area of responsibility. This role calls for an unwavering commitment to Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance, encompassing chlorine dioxide generation, methanol, and turpentine systems. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Champion Safety: Lead safety efforts and enforce standards to maintain an exceptional work environment.
  • Leadership Excellence: Provide mentorship, coaching, and resources to propel a high-performance work group.
  • Production Oversight: Manage production activities, setting priorities that align with operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Strategic Management: Collaborate in strategic planning, from setting goals to managing environmental impacts and compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize and enhance work systems for stronger foundational practices and performance accountability.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Ensure alignment across departments, continuously striving for quality standards and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Paper Science, or a related field with five+ years of operations experience in the paper industry, including three+ years in leadership roles; OR seven+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven leadership skills and technical acumen in pulp and paper manufacturing processes.
  • Strong strategic planning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of integrated mill operations and a proven track record in reliability and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Desired:

  • Experience in a unionized environment and familiarity with SAP.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM).
