Nursing Manager / ED Unit Manager

  • Salary in the $100 - 110,000 range DOE
  • Comprehensive Benefit and Retirement Programs. 
  • Status: Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), 40 hours per week
  • Shifts: 2 CNC on days, 2 CNC on nights, and a relief Charge per shift
  • Patient Population: Daily census ranges from 90 to occasionally over 100 patients, covering all age groups
  • Work Hours: Flexible schedule; 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM or 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM

The Nursing/ED Unit Manager, in collaboration with the Director, is accountable for both clinical and financial outcomes within the unit. This role involves day-to-day operational management, ensuring positive patient, employee, and physician satisfaction. The manager will work alongside the unit director to meet or exceed monthly operating budgets. Collaboration with clinical educators/resources is essential for unit orientation and staff competency. Adherence to patient care standards and service excellence is crucial for maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction. The role involves a managerial and administrative focus, with clinical responsibilities adjusted based on unit needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the unit.
  • Oversee personnel activities within the unit.
  • Coordinate inter and intra-departmental activities.
  • Foster a professional climate within the nursing unit.
  • Maintain supplies, medications, PAR levels, and ordering.
  • Ensure daily KRONOS upkeep.
  • Manage position control reports and PLUS productivity.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of the daily Central/EMTALA log.
  • Adhere to affirmative action and equal employment opportunity policies.
  • Oversee Customer Service initiatives.
  • Establish priorities and make independent decisions of a complex nature.
  • Interface with administration, physicians, the public, staff, and the healthcare team.
  • Represent the unit and administration.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Who Will Be a Great Fit?  

  • Current Texas RN License or Compact RN license.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare policy.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • 3+ years of experience as Charge RN, Coordinator, or Supervisor.
  • New hires must obtain PALS and TNCC within 6 months of hire.
