PT or OT in Hand Center

The Hand Center Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist is responsible for designing and executing tailored treatment programs for individual patients in accordance with the principles and practices of Physical Therapy. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team is a fundamental aspect of this role. This position reports to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review of Physical Therapy Requisitions:

    • Conduct patient interviews and assess their physical condition and needs.
  2. Development of Treatment Programs:

    • Create a program of corrective exercises and treatments for assigned patients.
    • Determine the appropriate usage of equipment, application techniques, and body positioning, making necessary adjustments for treatments such as exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobility, whirlpool therapy, hot packs, ultrasound, paraffin baths, ice packs, electrical stimulation, and traction.
    • Instruct patients on specific program segments, including the proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, and prosthetic appliances and devices.
    • Recommend program modifications based on the therapist's evaluation of progress.
    • Consult with physicians as needed to explore alternative treatment options.
  3. Documentation:

    • Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department, including evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
  4. Age-Appropriate Care:

    • Provide age-appropriate care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  5. Customer-Centric Approach:

    • Understand and demonstrate the importance of satisfying customer/patient needs through friendly and caring interactions, attentiveness to their needs, and proactive communication to provide a secure and pleasant experience with Arnot Health.


Who Will Be a Great Fit?  

  • Must be licensed to practice physical therapy or Occupational Therapy in New York State 

  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical hand therapy practice.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.
