We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Clinical Manager to lead our Blood Bank (Transfusion Services) department at our 495-bed hospital in Winchester, VA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage a high-volume, state-of-the-art blood bank facility, overseeing critical operations and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
• Oversee daily operations of the Blood Bank department, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards
• Manage and mentor a team of blood bank technologists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and quality of service
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and transfusion practices
• Participate in quality assurance activities and implement corrective actions as needed
• Manage inventory and budgeting for the department
• Stay current with advancements in transfusion medicine and implement new technologies as appropriate
• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science (Master's degree preferred)
• ASCP or equivalent board certification required; Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of Blood Bank experience (8 years preferred)
• At least 2 years of experience as a Blood Bank Supervisor (4 years preferred)
• 1 year of laboratory experience in high complexity testing for immunohematology
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Proficiency in laboratory information systems and quality management
