Nurse Manager of Surgical Services

Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Unit/Department Director or assigned designee, the Nurse Manager of Surgical Services is accountable for the seamless operation of the assigned units. This role encompasses budget management, delivery of patient care services, performance enhancement, adherence to regulatory standards, and growth of business opportunities. The Manager collaborates with management to ensure continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of patient care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate all departmental functions.
  • Serve as a resource and support for supervisors and staff, facilitating necessary education.
  • Maintain responsibility for the quality of care provided across the department.
  • Make informed decisions about departmental activities in line with Administrative Operational Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care, in collaboration with the leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of recent acute care leadership experience within a unit is required.
  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred and must be obtained within three years of employment.
  • Must hold an RN license eligible for practice in the State of Texas.
  • CNOR Specialty Certification is preferred and must be acquired within six months of starting the management position, with ongoing maintenance.
  • Memberships in relevant department associations are preferred.
  • Current BCLS and ACLS certifications are required.
